Redesigned for 2014, this E-class entails include a new skin, a restyled nose with bigger air intakes, and headlights that maintain the E-class’s traditional four-eyed look under single lenses. The car’s proportions continue the classic long-hood, short-deck look, with rising character lines culminating in muscular rear haunches that suggest NFL running-back muscle. It takes just one good stab at the throttle to realize the E550 cabrio delivers on that muscular suggestion. The twin-turbo 4.7-liter V-8 is rated for 402 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque, more than ample and mated to a seven-speed automatic delivering rapid shifts. The torque comes on in a torrent, hitting its peak at 1600 rpm and carrying it all the way to 4750, a heady plateau of power that gets this two-ton ragtop out of the blocks and on its way to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. The interior is very nice as expected, handsome, well built, comfortable and with the top up, it's quiet.
